Satellite Beach, FL Food Trucks & Mobile Vendors: Vending Zones (2026)

Sec. 30-560(c) sets the residential buffer for food trucks in Satellite Beach: no truck may locate or operate closer than 100 feet from any abutting residentially-zoned property, and the code specifically counts a residential lot separated from the truck's site by a public right-of-way as still "abutting" for this purpose, so a truck cannot dodge the buffer by parking across the street from a neighborhood. Subsection (e) adds a second buffer aimed at protecting brick-and-mortar restaurants and other trucks: no food truck may operate within 200 feet of the main entrance of another eating establishment or another food truck, unless that establishment's owner gives the food truck a written letter of no objection, a copy of which must be produced to city staff on request.

Both distances stack on top of the underlying zoning limit in subsection (b), which already restricts food trucks to privately-owned commercial or industrial zoned property, so a vendor has to clear the zoning test, the residential buffer and the competing-restaurant buffer all at once before setting up. Community Development and the Satellite Beach Police Department can measure these distances and order a truck to relocate or shut down if it falls short on any one of them.
