Blue Springs, MO Garage & Yard Sales: Frequency, Duration & Permits (2026)

Section 220.715 regulates any so-called garage sale or other sale of multiple personal-property items on residentially zoned and occupied land in the City of Blue Springs, Missouri. Subsection A.1 bars taking in goods from a commercial business or enterprise on consignment, keeping the exemption limited to genuine household sales rather than disguised retail operations. Subsection A.2 caps the same family, or any member of that family, at three such sales per year at the same premises. Subsection A.3 confines each sale to daylight hours, from sunup to sundown, and to no more than three consecutive days.

The Section exempts sales conducted under a court order or process, sales by public officials acting within their duties, and auctioneers conducting a public sale (Subsection C). Liability runs to any 'person' as defined in Section 605.020 of the business-licensing chapter who violates Subsection A, and a conviction is punished under the City's general penalty, Section 100.080, meaning a fine of up to $500, imprisonment of up to ninety days, or both, with each day of a continuing violation treated as a separate offense.
