Section 11-601.8, Home Based Retail Sales, limits a residential property to a maximum of six separate and distinct sale events per calendar year, and each event tops out at four consecutive calendar days; unused days from one sale cannot be banked to stretch a later sale. The code builds in spacing rules that prevent back-to-back sales from functioning as one continuous operation: the first and fourth sale events of the year must be separated from the prior sale event by at least 90 days, while the second, third, fifth and sixth events only need one day of separation from the previous sale at the same address.

A sale running any part of a calendar day, defined as midnight to midnight, counts as a full sale day. The ordinance also folds in a private vehicle-sale allowance: one vehicle may be displayed for sale on an improved driveway if it is registered to a resident of that property, and a Community Service Officer or Property Maintenance Inspector can cite a violation of the section. Motor vehicles, trailers, and ground-level storage containers cannot be used as part of a sale event's setup. Because the limits sit inside the residential district's general regulations chapter, they apply the same way in every residential zoning district in the city, from LDR-1 through the LDR-3 district.
