Atlanta generally prohibits commercial signage for home occupations. A small non-illuminated nameplate (~1 sq ft) is the maximum; banners and freestanding signs are not allowed.
Atlanta Code Β§158-104 and the sign provisions in Ch. 16 limit exterior signs at home occupations. In residential zones, a non-illuminated nameplate of approximately 1 square foot identifying the resident and occupation is typically the maximum allowed, and only where permitted. Freestanding commercial signs, banners, A-frames, and window graphics visible from the street are prohibited. Historic districts have additional restrictions. Temporary yard signs for real estate, political speech, or personal expression are separately governed and not tied to home-business rules. Violations are typically resolved by removing the sign, but repeat offenders can face daily fines.
Sign violations are cited under Ch. 16. Fines escalate per day of continuing violation.
