Tucson prohibits commercial signage for home occupations. Under UDC Section 4.9.4, no exterior sign, display, or advertising may indicate that a business is operated from the home. The residence must maintain the outward appearance of a single-family dwelling.
The ban includes window signs, yard signs, flags advertising services, and vehicles displaying business logos parked overnight in residential view if larger than a standard passenger vehicle. A small address or nameplate as is customary for any residence is allowed. Home businesses may advertise online, in print, and via direct mail, but the physical residence must not broadcast its business status. Historic districts apply even stricter design review on any text or symbols visible from the street.
