Subsection (b) of § 24-263 sets the baseline conditions for any home business operating out of a Woodbury dwelling, and item (8) is unambiguous: exterior signs identifying or advertising the home business are prohibited. The surrounding clauses reinforce the same no-visibility policy: item (7) bars any exterior indication the home holds a business at all, item (9) bars any exterior display, and item (10) bars any exterior storage of business equipment or materials. The sign chapter backs this up independently. 5-44, titled 'Prohibited signs,' lists 18 categories of signage unlawful citywide regardless of zoning district, and item (4) on that list is simply 'Home occupation signs,' so even a small yard sign identifying a home-based business is unlawful under the sign code on top of the home-business chapter.

5-44(17), no comparable exception exists for an ongoing home business, and § 24-263(a) makes clear the whole section is meant to ensure a home business has no adverse impact to building aesthetics. A resident who wants any signage for a home-based venture has no path to a permit under either chapter; the only options are removing the sign or relocating the business to a commercially zoned property, where the sign chapter's business-district sign allowances would apply instead.
