Woodbury allows one piece of recreational equipment up to 24 feet long to be stored outdoors on a single-family lot, on concrete or blacktop, with setbacks from the curb and lot lines. RVs and boats may not be stored on a public street.
Woodbury's zoning code (Sec. 24-255) limits outdoor recreational equipment to one piece per dwelling unit, not exceeding 24 feet in length. Recreational equipment includes boats, campers, RVs, snowmobiles, and trailers. When equipment sits on a trailer, the trailer and the equipment are counted as one unit (the trailer tongue and motor are not included in the length measurement). The city's Common Code Violations guidance summarizes the placement rules: equipment must be at least 15 feet from the curb in the front yard, at least 5 feet from side and rear lot lines, and parked on a concrete or blacktop surface. Equipment must be maintained in good condition and currently licensed where applicable. Recreational equipment may not be parked or stored on a public street. Separately, Woodbury's winter parking rules (Ordinance No. 14-122) prohibit all on-street parking between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. from November 1 to April 1, and any time two or more inches of snow have accumulated until streets are plowed, so trailers and RVs cannot be left curbside in winter. Residents who own larger or additional units should contact Code Enforcement at 651-714-3500 to confirm what is allowed before storing equipment outdoors.
Storing more than one piece of recreational equipment outdoors, exceeding the 24-foot length limit, parking too close to the curb or lot lines, parking on grass instead of concrete or blacktop, or leaving an RV or boat on a public street can result in a code enforcement notice and administrative citation.
