Chandler permits home occupations in residential zones if conducted entirely within the dwelling by a household member. Recent amendments allow one customer and one employee at a time with expanded permitted activities.
Chandler allows home occupations within residential properties if completely conducted within the dwelling unit by a family member residing therein. Recent code amendments expanded permitted activities to include personal services, beauty services, photography, consulting, and therapy, allowing one employee and one customer appointment at a time during the hours of 8 AM to 7 PM. Home occupations may also occur within an accessory building or garage if no permanent modifications are made to the garage. The business must not be noxious, offensive, or hazardous by reason of traffic, noise, smoke, dust, odor, or other emissions.
Operating a home business that violates zoning standards may result in code enforcement action including cease-and-desist orders. Businesses exceeding permitted scope must relocate to commercial zones.
