Lauderhill, FL Landscaping Rules: Tree Trimming (2026)

Section 6.8.12 of the Land Development Regulations requires every tree service or arborist performing work within the City of Lauderhill to register with the City. Registration is valid for one year from issuance, is nontransferable and nonrefundable, and is subject to a fee the Commission sets by resolution. Applicants must submit a copy of their company permit and a valid insurance certificate, and registered companies certified by the International Society of Arboriculture must have that credential noted on the registration. Registered tree services must keep a copy of the registration on-site during work and must clearly mark their name, address, and phone number on their vehicles and equipment doors.

The City may revoke or deny renewal of a registration if the company fails to meet the trimming standards in this section or commits tree abuse as defined in Sections 6.8.4 and 6.8.9, which prohibit hatracking, flush cuts, and overlifting; a denied or revoked registrant has ten days to request a hearing before the City Manager. Exemptions from the registration requirement cover permitted nurseries trimming stock grown for sale, emergency trimming the City Manager suspends the section for during hurricanes or similar disasters, and trimming performed by a franchised utility, water management district, or municipal or county government, but only when that trimming follows American National Standards Institute A-300 pruning standards.
