Stonecrest, GA Landscaping Rules: Weed Ordinances (2026)

Section 18-21, titled Weeds, junk, etc., prohibited, sets Stonecrest's numeric height limit for turf and weeds. Subsection (a) requires every property owner or occupant to keep the land free of weeds and underbrush that create a health menace, fire hazard, or unsafe or unsanitary condition, along with trash, garbage or inoperable vehicles left on the lot. Subsection (c) then supplies the specific number code enforcement measures against: within 150 feet of any building or structure, weeds or grass cannot exceed ten inches in height, and that limit reaches into the public right-of-way fronting the property, not just the private lot.

Subsection (b) separately bars using the premises for open storage of an inoperable vehicle, household appliance, glass, or building material, and puts an affirmative duty on the owner, operator or occupant to remove weeds, dead trees, trash and garbage once the city gives notice. Subsection (d) requires owners and tenants abutting a street, sidewalk, lane or parking area to keep that frontage clean and free of garbage and trash, and subsection (e) makes co-owners and tenants of a shared parking area jointly and severally responsible for its upkeep.

The same International Property Maintenance Code amendment package the city adopted in chapter 18, article II, separately instructs code officials to insert 10 inches at IPMC section 302.4, the model code's own weed and vegetation clause, so the ten-inch figure in section 18-21(c) matches the number the city built into its adopted property maintenance code rather than standing alone.
