Moore, OK Mobility & Curb Rules: Bike Lane Rules (2026)

Sec 15-1605, 'Riding On Roads And Bicycle Paths,' requires a person operating a bicycle or motorized scooter at less than the normal speed of traffic to ride as close as is safe to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway, with listed exceptions: passing another vehicle, preparing for a left turn, avoiding fixed or moving objects, parked or moving vehicles, pedestrians, animals or surface hazards, and while positioned in a right-turn-only lane. On a one-way street with two or more marked lanes, a rider may instead ride close to the left-hand curb.

The section bars passing other vehicles between lanes of traffic moving the same direction and bars riding more than two abreast except on a path or part of a roadway set aside exclusively for bicycles or scooters, and even riders two abreast may not impede normal traffic flow and must stay within a single lane on a laned roadway. Critically for bike lane obstruction, the section closes with a mandatory-use rule: wherever a usable path for bicycles has been provided adjacent to a roadway, bicycle riders must use that path and may not use the roadway.

Sec 15-1602 separately grants cyclists the same rights and duties as vehicle drivers under state traffic law, and Sec 15-1609 bars riding on sidewalks within the business district. Sec 15-1614 sets the penalty for any violation of Chapter 15-16 at whatever is provided in Sec 1-108, the city's general penalty, up to a $500 fine, and Moore Police Department officers enforce it under their Sec 15-1801 traffic authority.
