Moore, OK Parking Rules: Curb Color Rules (2026)

The City of Moore, Oklahoma adopted the International Fire Code and locally amended Section 503.3 to require permanent, visible marking of every fire apparatus access lane (Moore Code of Ordinances § 13-101, amending IFC § 503.3). Property owners and businesses must stripe the lane boundary with continuous painted lines of red traffic paint six inches wide, and print 'NO PARKING FIRE LANE' or 'FIRE LANE NO PARKING' in four-inch white letters at 25-foot intervals on the red border along both sides of the lane. Where a curb exists, the striping goes on both the vertical curb face and the horizontal top of the curb, so the marking reads whether a driver is looking down at the pavement or across at the curb.

Property owners may instead install signs reading 'NO PARKING FIRE LANE' or 'FIRE LANE NO PARKING,' 12 inches wide and 18 inches tall, with a reflective white background, red lettering at least two inches tall, mounted on a stationary post with the sign bottom six feet six inches above grade and spaced no more than 50 feet apart along both sides of the lane. The Moore Fire Marshal approves striping and sign placement and inspects fire lanes for compliance. This amendment was adopted with the 2015 International Fire Code and has been amended twice since, by Ordinance 858(17) in 2017 and Ordinance 1044.23 in 2023.

A violation, including an unmarked or repainted-over fire lane, is punished under Section 110.4 as a citation under Section 1-108 of the Moore municipal code, which caps most unspecified fines at $500, with each day the violation continues treated as a separate offense.
