Lauderhill, FL Noise from Specific Sources: Bar & Nightclub Noise (2026)

Section 5.26.1.E of the Lauderhill Land Development Regulations, part of the City's live entertainment use standards, prohibits any business or person licensed under the chapter from allowing instrumental music, singing or other forms of entertainment unless the rooms where it happens are soundproofed so the resulting noise does not disrupt the peace and quiet of the neighborhood. The section is written as a conditional: once a room meets the soundproofing definition used in the chapter, entertainment may run throughout the establishment's hours of operation, but a room that is not soundproofed cannot host live entertainment at all, regardless of the volume in any given moment.

This soundproofing duty layers onto zoning-specific live entertainment rules elsewhere in Section 5.26.1. In the Commercial Recreation, Community Facility and Commercial Warehouse districts, live entertainment is a permitted accessory use only if it occurs completely indoors; in the Community Commercial and General Commercial districts it typically needs a special exception development order from the City Commission; and in the Commercial Entertainment district and the Arts and Entertainment Overlay District, indoor live entertainment is allowed as a permitted use until 4:00 a.m. Across every one of those districts, the City Manager may repeal the live entertainment authorization if it is found to have an adverse impact on public safety, health or general welfare, and three or more police incidents attributable to the use within a one-year period establishes a prima facie case for that repeal, giving the soundproofing standard real enforcement teeth beyond a simple noise complaint.
