Full Breakdown

Under Brick Township Code § 281-7B(6), running equipment for commercial construction, repair, alteration or demolition work counts as unlawful noise between 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. on weekdays, from 6:00 p.m. Saturday through 7:00 a.m. Monday, and on legal holidays. That leaves roughly a 7 a.m.-to-6 p.m. window Monday through Friday for equipment-driven construction noise in residential and commercial land use categories. A contractor needing an exception, an early start or weekend work, can ask the Township Council to adopt a resolution temporarily waiving or amending the hours under § 281-8C.

Violations & Fines

Violating the noise chapter carries a civil penalty of up to $3,000 per offense under § 281-13, with each day of continued violation a separate punishable offense.
