Brick Township's noise ordinance (part of the general code) establishes that excessive noise is a serious hazard to public health and welfare and that people have a right to an environment free from noise. Commercial construction, repair, alteration, and demolition work is prohibited in residential or commercial zones between 6:00 PM and 7:00 AM. Loading, unloading, and handling of boxes, crates, containers, and garbage cans between 6:00 PM and 7:00 AM that cause a noise disturbance is prohibited. Motor vehicles exceeding 10,000 pounds GVW may not idle for longer than 3 minutes in any hour while stationary on a public right-of-way in a residential district. Exterior burglar alarms must terminate within 15 minutes of activation. The NJ statewide noise code (N.J.A.C. 7:29) also applies with 65 dBA daytime and 50 dBA nighttime limits.
