Construction hours in Madison, AL — sometimes called construction noise rules or contractor work-hour ordinances — set when contractors can run power tools, hammers, and heavy equipment.
Construction noise crossing the property line is allowed only 7 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m.–7 p.m. on Sundays and City-observed holidays. Quieter equipment may run any hour if it stays within the general noise limit.
Section 14-175 makes it a violation to engage in construction-related activity producing noise beyond the property line except 7 a.m.–9 p.m. Mon–Sat and 10 a.m.–7 p.m. Sunday and City-observed holidays. However, construction equipment may operate at any hour so long as it does not produce noise violating the general prohibition of Sec. 14-172. The standard is verbatim from Ord. 2012-256 amending Chapter 14 (Municode Ch. 22, Art. II).
Fined a minimum $100 first offense, $250 second, $500 plus at least 24 hours jail on third; each day of violation is a separate offense.
