Antioch's noise regime is built on a general peace-disturbance standard rather than dB-keyed nighttime quiet hours. Antioch Municipal Code section 5-17.01 (Chapter 17, Disturbing the Peace) makes it unlawful for any person to 'disturb the peace, quiet, and comfort of the community or any neighborhood therein by creating therein any unreasonably loud or disturbing or unnecessary noises.' Section 5-17.02 lists illustrative violations (vehicle horns/exhaust used outside the Vehicle Code, racing a stationary engine, playing a radio/stereo/instrument in a loud or disturbing manner from a vehicle or otherwise, and prolonging a necessary noise beyond what is needed). The chapter expressly states that this list 'shall not be deemed or construed as in any degree exclusive, but merely illustrative.'
