Quiet hours in Escambia County, FL — also called the noise ordinance, nighttime noise rules, or residential quiet time — define the hours during which excessive noise is prohibited.
Unincorporated Escambia County has no blanket decibel curfew; the County Noise Abatement Ordinance (Code Ch. 42) bars unreasonably loud amplified sound at night. Loudspeakers and PA systems are restricted 10:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m. weekdays and 10:00 p.m.-10:00 a.m. weekends and holidays.
Escambia County uses a reasonableness standard, not a fixed county-wide decibel curfew, for most of its large unincorporated area (Perdido, Warrington, Brent, Ensley). Section 42-65(f) makes it a per se violation to loudly operate a loudspeaker, amplifier or PA system between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. on weekdays and 10:00 p.m. and 10:00 a.m. on weekends and holidays in or adjacent to residential or noise-sensitive areas. Yelling, shouting or singing in residential areas 10:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m. is also barred under 42-65(g). Inside the City of Pensacola, radios and devices plainly audible at 50 feet are prima facie violations 11:00 p.m.-7:00 a.m. The ordinance applies only in unincorporated areas.
Misdemeanor: fine up to $500 or up to 60 days jail, or both. Each day of a continuing violation is a separate offense (Sec. 42-69).
