Bossier Parish, LA Outdoor Lighting: Billboard Lighting (2026)

Bossier Parish's off-premise sign article, Section 126-888, dedicates subsection (i) to lighting of billboards and other outdoor advertising devices in the parish's B-1, B-2, B-3, I-1 and I-2 districts, the only zones where off-premise signs are allowed at all under subsection (e). No revolving or rotating beacon that simulates an emergency light may be part of any sign, and flashing devices are barred entirely except for customary public-service displays of time, date or temperature; even those cannot sit within 1,000 feet of residential property. Animated billboards, including message-center and video boards, cannot be visible from any property zoned residential within 720 feet, and are banned outright within 500 feet of residential zoning regardless of visibility.

External lighting such as floodlights, thin-line fixtures and goose-neck reflectors is allowed only if the light source is aimed at the sign face and shielded so no beam or reflection crosses onto a public street; fixtures must sit above the sign face and point downward, or below it and point upward, never sideways into traffic. 3 footcandle over ambient conditions with mandatory automatic dimming, measured with a footcandle meter from 200 to 250 feet depending on sign size.
