Bossier Parish, LA Noise Ordinances: Quiet Hours (2026)

Section 46-36(a) lists acts the parish declares to be loud, disturbing and unreasonable noises regardless of decibel readings, and yelling, shouting, hooting, whistling or singing on public streets between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. tops that list under paragraph (2). The same paragraph also bars that kind of noise at any hour if it disturbs the quiet, comfort or repose of people in a hospital, dwelling, hotel or other residence. That nighttime curfew lines up with the numeric drop built into Table 1 of section 46-35, where the outdoor sound ceiling at a residential property falls from 50 dBA in the day to 45 dBA between 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., and a noise-sensitive receiver like a hospital drops from 45 dBA to 40 dBA over the same overnight window.

Complaints are investigated by a parish noise control officer under section 46-32(b)(5), who can pursue a violation once the sound levels at a receiving property equal or exceed the section 46-35 thresholds, or once conduct like street yelling meets the enumerated-act standard of section 46-36 on its own, without a decibel reading. Waivers between a noise source and affected neighbors are available under section 46-31 for any provision of the ordinance, including the nighttime restrictions, if both sides agree in writing to a defined term of relief.
