Bossier Parish, LA Parking Rules: Abandoned Vehicles (2026)

Bossier Parish Code § 118-41 defines an abandoned motor vehicle as one that is inoperable and left unattended on public property for more than three days, inoperable and left on an interstate or four-lane highway shoulder or right-of-way for more than three days, illegally left on public property for more than three days, or left on private property for more than three days without the owner or occupant's consent. Section 118-42 flatly makes it unlawful to abandon any motor vehicle on public or private property in the parish.

A vehicle unclaimed for three months is deemed abandoned to the parish under Section 118-44 and is sold at public sale after published notice, with any owner or lienholder able to claim the sale proceeds, minus costs, within one year. Section 118-45 separately routes derelict or totally destroyed vehicles to disposal as public property once impounded.
