Toledo tags and tows abandoned, inoperable, or junk vehicles under TMC 341.04 and Ohio Revised Code 4513.63. Vehicles without valid plates, flat tires, or visible damage on public or private property can be removed after 48-72 hour notice.
Toledo Municipal Code 341.04 and ORC 4513.63 define an abandoned vehicle as one left on public property 48 hours or more without valid plates or in inoperable condition, or on private property without consent. The Toledo Police Abandoned Vehicle Unit tags vehicles with a warning sticker, and after 48-72 hours (or 7 days if on private property with owner notice), the vehicle is towed to Pat-N-Sons, Rick's Towing, or other impound contractors. Owners must pay towing ($150+) and storage fees ($25+/day) to reclaim. Unclaimed vehicles go to auction under ORC 4513.61. Junk vehicles on private property (no plates, flat tires, wheels off blocks) also violate TMC housing code and are addressed by Code Enforcement. Report via Engage Toledo 419-936-2020.
Abandoned on street: $100 plus tow fees. Junk on private property: $150 first offense, daily fines until removed. Unclaimed: auction under ORC 4513.61.
