Coral Gables prohibits overnight parking of trucks and commercial vehicles in residential areas except in enclosed garages. Vehicles displaying advertising signs, trailers, and recreational vehicles are banned from residential street and driveway parking under Zoning Code Sections 4-411 and 8-11/8-12.
Zoning Code Sections 8-11 and 8-12 prohibit overnight parking of trucks in residential areas except within an enclosed space or garage. The Code defines truck broadly as any motor vehicle designed, used, or maintained for transporting or delivering property or material used in trade or commerce. Section 4-411 makes it unlawful to park any vehicle displaying advertising signs, or any truck, trailer, commercial vehicle, or recreational vehicle in residential areas. Boats and boat trailers may only be placed in interior side or rear yards. These ordinances have been upheld by Florida courts as valid exercises of zoning authority to preserve residential character. Coral Gables actively enforces these provisions to maintain The City Beautiful aesthetic.
Code Enforcement citations for commercial vehicles parked in residential areas. Fines up to $500 for repeat violations. Vehicles may be towed at owner's expense. Contact Code Enforcement at (305) 460-5216.
