Grapevine prohibits parking of commercial vehicles over 1 ton or 20 feet in length on residential streets and in residential driveways for extended periods. Tractor-trailers, box trucks, buses, and equipment trailers must be stored in properly zoned commercial or industrial areas. Violations can result in fines up to $500 per day.
Grapevine's Code of Ordinances and Zoning Ordinance restrict where commercial vehicles can be parked or stored. Commercial vehicles defined as those with a manufacturer's gross vehicle weight rating over 1 ton, or with a length exceeding approximately 20 feet, or bearing commercial signage for a business, are generally prohibited from overnight parking on residential streets and within front or side yard setbacks of residential lots. Tractor-trailers, semi-trucks, box trucks over 1 ton, buses, tow trucks, flatbeds with equipment, and dump trucks must be stored in commercial or industrial zones that permit such use, such as CC, BP, or LI districts. A single commercial pickup truck or van under 1 ton used by a resident is typically allowed in a driveway. Commercial vehicles actively engaged in loading, unloading, service calls, construction, or deliveries to a residence are exempt during the active service period. The ordinance is primarily enforced through the Grapevine Police Department and Code Enforcement. Because Grapevine hosts many hospitality workers and DFW Airport employees, parking of shuttle vans, limousines, and airport taxis on residential property is specifically restricted. Violations are Class C misdemeanors with fines up to $500 per day, and vehicles may be towed after notice. Enforcement line: (817) 410-3330.
