Irvington, NJ Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 620-45, first adopted in 1988 and last amended in 2016, targets commercial vehicles Township-wide rather than just designated streets. Subsection B flatly prohibits overnight parking of commercial vehicles, defined to include any vehicle registered as commercial, contractor or bus, or any vehicle carrying business advertising or used in connection with a business regardless of its registration class. , excusing only emergency vehicles and taxicabs permitted under § 620-46; a disabled commercial vehicle gets no exception and must be promptly removed by its owner. Subsection C separately bars overnight parking of tractor-trailer cabs, buses, jitneys and taxicabs, and any pickup, van or truck loaded or marked in a way that would lead a reasonable observer to think it is used commercially.

A. 48:2-13 performing utility work. Subsection I goes further than the overnight rule and bans parking any commercial truck, tractor, trailer or omnibus in a residential driveway at any time of day, though the vehicle may sit inside an attached or detached garage without violating the section. The Irvington Department of Public Safety enforces § 620-45; after a summons issues, the vehicle may be towed at the owner's expense. Subsection G sets the penalty at $150 for each violation, and the section makes each day the vehicle remains in violation a separate offense, so a truck left in a driveway for a week can generate a fine for every day it sits there.
