Irvington, NJ Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Section 620-11 of the Vehicles and Traffic chapter lists Irvington's blanket no-parking rules that apply regardless of posted signage. Subsection D bars parking any motor vehicle on a lawn, front yard, rear yard or side yard, across a sidewalk, driveway, garage or carport entrance, on a vacant lot, or by jumping a curb without an apron to reach an area that is not a delineated parking space. Subsection E adds distance-based bans: no vehicle may sit within a designated bus stop, within 50 feet of a stop sign, within 10 feet of a fire hydrant, within 25 feet of the nearest crosswalk, within 50 feet of a railroad crossing, within an intersection, in front of a driveway in a way that blocks entry or exit, on a crosswalk itself, in a marked no-parking space, or double-parked so as to impede traffic.

Subsection F makes any violation of § 620-11 a payable offense: a driver can resolve the ticket by paying the prescribed fine and does not have to appear in Municipal Court unless the law otherwise requires it or the court directs one. The fine schedule at § 620-4B sets that payable amount at $50 for a § 620-11 violation. Section 620-11 also carries separate subsections addressing eighteen-wheelers, buses and other commercial vehicles or equipment on municipal and county roadways, which Irvington regulates apart from and more strictly than ordinary passenger-car parking.
