Lakewood CO 351.17 bars parking a school bus, commercial tractor, truck with a commercial plate, bus, trailer, moving van, ambulance, hearse, or similar vehicle on any street for more than one hour, except when actively loading or unloading.
Lakewood Codified Ordinance 351.17 (Parking Commercial Vehicles and Recreational Equipment) imposes a strict one-hour cap on on-street parking of commercial and large vehicles. It prohibits parking a school bus, commercial tractor, agricultural tractor, truck bearing a commercial plate, bus (or a vehicle originally manufactured or designed as a bus), trailer, semitrailer, pole trailer, moving van, ambulance, or hearse - and any recreational equipment as defined in Zoning Code Section 1147.02 - for a period in excess of one hour on any street at any time within the City, except when loading or unloading. This effectively prohibits overnight or routine on-street storage of commercial vehicles in residential areas. The ordinance was last amended July 2, 2018. Statewide, Ohio Revised Code 4511.68 prohibits parking any vehicle, including commercial vehicles, in intersections, on sidewalks, within 10 feet of a fire hydrant, and in other enumerated locations.
A commercial vehicle parked on a Lakewood street longer than one hour (other than for active loading/unloading) is subject to a parking citation under CO 351.17. Repeat or obstructive violations may also trigger towing under the 24-hour rule (CO 351.18) and removal under ORC 4513.63.
