Medina, OH Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

09 of Medina's Zoning Code restricts heavy vehicle parking on residential property. On any property used primarily for residential purposes, no commercial vehicle, bus, trailer or truck exceeding 7,000 pounds gross vehicle weight may be parked on a driveway or in a yard. The Code allows three narrow exceptions: emergencies, making deliveries or loading, and vehicles approved under the towing policy of the City of Medina Police Department. Even under the police department's towing-policy exception, the approved vehicle cannot exceed 14,000 pounds gross vehicle weight and still cannot be parked in the yard, only on the driveway or another permitted surface, keeping heavier tow vehicles out of residential yards altogether.

Because the threshold is set at 7,000 pounds gross vehicle weight rather than by vehicle type, the rule reaches everyday work trucks and box trucks that residents might otherwise assume are exempt, provided they cross that weight line. 12, all aimed at keeping residential streetscapes free of oversized vehicles parked long-term. 09 was adopted by Ordinance 109-14, passed June 23, 2014, and remains the operative commercial-vehicle parking standard for Medina's residential districts.
