Medina, OH Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Medina Codified Ordinances Section 351.03, amended by Ordinance 103-16 in 2016, sets out twenty specific places within the city where a vehicle may not stand or park even briefly, unless the driver is avoiding a traffic conflict, following the Traffic Code, or obeying a police officer or traffic control device. The list bars parking in front of a public or private driveway, within an intersection or crosswalk, within twenty feet of a crosswalk at an intersection, within thirty feet of a stop sign or flashing beacon, within fifty feet of a railroad crossing, within twenty feet of a fire station driveway (seventy-five feet on the opposite side if posted), alongside a street excavation that would obstruct traffic, on a bridge or in a tunnel, at any place with a sign or yellow curb prohibiting it, within one foot of another parked vehicle, in a designated fire lane, and within ten feet of a mailbox.

Two provisions target residential streets directly: subsection (q) bars parking on the lawn strip within any R-1 through R-5 Residential District or the I-2 Industrial District, and subsection (t) bars parking on grass or other unimproved surfaces in a Residential District, cross-referencing the zoning code's Section 1145.06(c). Drivers who stop at the curb still must comply with Section 351.04, which requires parking within twelve inches of the curb.

A violation of Section 351.03 for which no other penalty is set carries the Traffic Code's general minor misdemeanor penalty under Section 303.99: no jail time and a fine of up to $150. Medina Police issue citations and, where a vehicle obstructs traffic or sits in a posted no-parking zone, may have it towed.
