Medina, OH Parking Rules: Driveway Rules (2026)

08(a) governs where recreational vehicles and boats may sit on a residential driveway in Medina. The general rule bars parking a trailer, house trailer, mobile home or other vehicle designed for living quarters, including collapsible camping trailers and truck campers, and any boat, boat trailer or boat dollie, on the driveway itself; the Code instead requires these to be kept on a hard-surfaced pad located in the side or rear yard, behind the dwelling's front building line, so the vehicle sits out of view from the street for most of the year.

The subsection carves out a defined seasonal window: from April 1st to October 31st, the same vehicles may be parked on the driveway without violating the Code, effectively letting a resident use the driveway during the camping and boating season and requiring the pad the rest of the year. 08 framework, which also caps the number of such vehicles at two per lot, requires them to be operable with current registration, and bars connecting them to sewer, water or electric service except while being serviced or prepped for travel.

Subsection (b) notes that a subdivision's private restrictive covenants may impose a tighter driveway restriction than the City's own rule, but the City does not enforce those covenants under this zoning section. The driveway and pad requirement was adopted by Ordinance 109-14, passed June 23, 2014, and remains part of Chapter 1155's residential parking standards.
