Medina, OH Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

Medina Codified Ordinances Section 351.09, adopted by Ordinance 12-14 in January 2014, governs any place marked as a truck loading zone. A vehicle may stop, stand or park there only for the expeditious unloading and delivery, or pickup and loading, of materials or persons, and only while the zone's posted hours are in effect; outside those hours or for any other purpose the space is treated like ordinary curb parking. Even while making a legitimate delivery, the ordinance caps the stop at thirty minutes; there is no provision for extending that window administratively.

The section sits within Chapter 351, Parking, alongside the city's broader list of prohibited standing and parking places in Section 351.03 and its rules for bus stops and taxicab stands in Section 351.10, which similarly limits a passenger vehicle's temporary stop in a bus zone to three minutes. Together the sections show Medina distinguishing ordinary curb space from purpose-built commercial and transit zones, each with its own time ceiling.

A violation of Section 351.09 falls under the Traffic Code's general penalty provision, Section 303.99, because the loading-zone section itself sets no separate fine. That makes exceeding the thirty-minute limit, or using a loading zone for any purpose besides loading or unloading, a minor misdemeanor: no jail time, with a fine capped at $150. The Medina Police Department enforces the limit through parking citations, and a vehicle that remains beyond the thirty minutes or obstructs a delivery truck can be ticketed regardless of whether the driver is present.
