Rothschild, WI Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 524-11D(6), added in 2001, says commercial vehicles, except for one pickup or van operated by the occupant of a dwelling, may not be stored or parked in residential districts. The Village's zoning code carries a nearly identical restriction in § 590-96A(5), so the same limit is enforceable both as a traffic violation and as a zoning violation. Reading them together, a homeowner can keep a single pickup truck or van used for work parked at home, but a second work vehicle, a box truck, or other commercial equipment cannot be stored or parked anywhere in a residential zoning district, whether in a driveway, yard, or on the street in front of the house.

Large trucks passing through rather than stored in a residential district face their own limit under § 524-11B: no semi-tractor, trailer, or truck over 20 feet long or 10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight may park or stand on any street or alley in the Village for more than three consecutive hours, and that drops to one hour if the vehicle is actively loading or unloading. If a situation calls for parking longer than those limits, the operator has to get permission from the Chief of Police or the Police Department first.

The zoning code's § 590-96A separately caps recreational vehicles and trailers, requiring them to sit at least two feet from property lines and out of the front yard except on a driveway.
