Village Code § 590-96A(3) governs recreational equipment and trailers, including boats, snowmobiles, all-terrain vehicles, travel trailers, popup campers, and motor homes, in every residential zoning district. The equipment must sit at least two feet from all property lines and stay out of the front yard of the dwelling's living area, unless it is parked on a designated driveway without encroaching into the Village right-of-way; when parked beside a garage or next to a driveway it must sit on a hard surface, not bare soil, black dirt or sand.

The vehicle or trailer must also be operable, currently registered, and in good repair. In the rear yard, § 590-96A(3)(b) bars outdoor storage of recreation vehicles and trailers, other than small utility trailers under six feet by 10 feet, unless the storage is at least 50% screened from the public right-of-way by landscaping or a permanent fence, and the ground beneath a parked vehicle must be kept mowed under six inches and free of weeds per § 437-2. No recreational vehicle may be used for permanent living, sleeping, or materials storage, or connected to water, gas, electric or sanitary sewer service, for more than 14 days under § 590-96A(4).

Commercial vehicles other than one pickup or van used by the resident cannot be stored in residential districts at all, and motor vehicles, trailers, semitrailers, and travel trailers may not sit in the front yard of the living area, except on circular driveways for passenger cars and light trucks.
