Section 156-29 of the Vehicles and Traffic chapter authorizes the Abington Township Police Department to mark off individual parking spaces within the metered parking zones and areas listed in § 156-37, using lines painted or marked directly on the curbing or the surface of the highway. Once a space is so marked, a driver must keep the vehicle entirely inside those painted boundaries; straddling a line or parking partly outside the designated rectangle is a violation. The Township pairs the painted markings with signage: § 156-30 requires appropriate signs near the spaces showing the zone number and accepted payment methods, and § 156-31 sets the exact orientation for parallel and diagonal spaces relative to the sign and curb.

Enforcement runs through § 156-33, which makes it unlawful to park across any line or marking of a metered space or otherwise outside the marked area, alongside separate violations for overtime parking and for defacing or damaging a parking sign. The Police Department is responsible for installing and maintaining both the paint and the signage, and the Township may temporarily suspend the marked-space rules under § 156-36 for holidays or emergencies. These curb-painting provisions apply specifically to the metered zones catalogued street-by-street in § 156-37, covering stretches of Easton Road, Mt. Carmel Avenue, Keswick Avenue, Geneva Avenue and Woodland Road, among others; unmarked residential streets outside those designated zones are not governed by this section.
