Omaha, NE Parking Rules: Curb Color Rules (2026)

Under the city's amendment to the International Fire Code, when the fire code official requires marking of a fire apparatus access road, the city posts a white reflective sign with red letters reading "Fire Lane - No Parking Anytime - Omaha Municipal Code." If a curb runs along that fire lane, the curb itself must be painted red or yellow so the no-parking zone is visible even without a sign in sightline. The sign and paint must both stay clean and legible. This is the only ordinance in Omaha's code that mandates curb paint color; the city does not otherwise color-code curbs for loading, metered, or time-limited parking, which are marked with posted signs instead.
