Vallejo, CA Parking Rules: Curb Color Rules (2026)

VMC Section 8.24.050 defines what each curb color means under Chapter 8.24. A red curb means no stopping, standing, or parking at any time except as the California Vehicle Code allows, though a bus or licensed jitney may still stop in a red zone that's marked or signed as a bus zone. A yellow curb bars stopping, standing, or parking between 8 a.m. and 10 p.m. (unless different hours are posted) for any purpose other than loading or unloading: passenger loading is capped at three minutes and materials loading at twenty minutes. A white curb bars stopping, standing, or parking at any time of day except to load or unload passengers, which is limited to three minutes, though a licensed taxicab may occupy a designated taxi stand longer.

Green curbs work on a sliding scale: the section caps parking at twelve to twenty-four minutes in green zones inside parking meter areas, and at fifteen or twenty minutes, never more than twenty, in green zones outside meter areas. The traffic engineer may install green zones only in front of a defined list of public buildings and business types, including city hall, the library, the post office, the county office building, federal offices, dry cleaners, package liquor stores, drugstores, banks, utility offices, and insurance agencies, when the location needs short-term, high-turnover parking; a green zone must be removed once the qualifying business vacates or the building's use changes. A blue curb bars stopping, standing, or parking during the posted time except for a vehicle displaying a DMV disabled-person placard or plate issued under Vehicle Code Section 22511.5, or a disabled-veteran plate under Vehicle Code Section 9105.
