Vallejo, CA Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

VMC Section 8.24.010 lists the specific places where a vehicle may not stop, stand, or park on a Vallejo street. Among the restrictions: a vehicle may not park in a red zone except as the Vehicle Code allows or for a bus or jitney in a marked bus zone (subsection F); may not sit in a loading zone except while actually loading or unloading passengers or materials (subsection G); and may not extend outside its marked parking space or into a traffic lane or pedestrian crosswalk, marked or unmarked (subsection J). The section also bars parking on a street for washing, greasing, or repairing a vehicle outside an emergency repair (subsection D), and lets the city post no-parking signs for scheduled street cleaning (subsection M).

Section 8.24.020, titled Zoned parking, sets the orientation rule behind this target's wrong-way problem: every vehicle parked on a street, other than where angle parking is allowed, must sit parallel to the curb or pavement edge with its front facing the same direction that traffic in the nearest lane is permitted to travel on that side of the street. Parking against the flow of traffic, nose-out from the curb on the wrong side, violates this section independent of any other parking restriction.

Enforcement runs through the same civil-penalty structure as the rest of Chapter 8: Section 8.12.050 assesses a civil penalty for violating any municipal code provision restricting standing or parking, at amounts set on the city's parking fine schedule; Section 8.12.060 adds a separate late-payment penalty if the fine isn't paid on time; and Section 8.12.070 sets a default thirty-dollar penalty, plus a thirty-dollar late fee, for any parking violation that has no penalty specifically assigned to it. Registration holds imposed by the DMV under Section 8.12.090 add the state's hold fee on top of the civil penalty.
