Clearwater regulates residential driveway parking through Community Development Code Section 3-1407, which restricts oversized, commercial, and recreational vehicles forward of the building line and within front setbacks.
CDC Sec. 3-1407 limits what may sit in a residential driveway or front yard. Boats over 20 feet, oversized boat trailers, recreational vehicles, motor homes, camping trailers, hauling trailers, and large commercial vehicles cannot be parked in the front setback or forward of the principal building line on up to two frontages. Smaller passenger vehicles registered to residents are generally allowed on improved driveway surfaces. Vehicles parked on lawns or unimproved surfaces in front yards are subject to violation. Permanent parking surfaces must meet city standards established in Division 14 of the Community Development Code, which governs parking and loading citywide.
Code compliance officers issue notices of violation; continued violations escalate to daily civil penalties through the special magistrate process until corrected.
