Section 14-333, 'Parking in yards in residential zones,' names three separate bans. , on a public or private street or thoroughfare. Two exceptions carve out normal household use. First, any of the listed vehicles may sit for up to six days if unusual circumstances apply and the owner gives the Chief of Police, or a delegate, prior notice and gets a temporary permit from the Police Department. Second, and more important for everyday parking, licensed passenger vehicles and pickup trucks are exempt entirely when they sit on a permanently constructed driveway, meaning a paved surface rather than bare ground or gravel.

Subsection (b) separately allows a motor truck 'on business calls' to park on a permanently constructed driveway in a front or side yard if it is currently licensed and either drivable under its own power or temporarily out of service for no more than 72 hours. The section cross-references § 14-361, which layers additional bans on dual-rear-wheel trucks, construction equipment and trailers parked on the residential public right-of-way rather than on a resident's own lot.
