Eagan regulates loading, standing and fire-lane areas through Chapter 9 of the City Code and Minnesota Statutes 169.34. State law bars stopping, standing or parking within ten feet of a fire hydrant, in marked fire lanes and near crosswalks and intersections, and the city enforces posted no-parking and loading restrictions on its streets and lots.
Eagan does not publish a single consumer-facing loading-zone page, but loading, standing and fire-lane parking are controlled by Chapter 9 of the City Code together with statewide rules in Minnesota Statutes Section 169.34. That statute, which applies in Eagan, prohibits stopping, standing or parking within ten feet of a fire hydrant, within 20 feet of the driveway entrance to a fire station, within an intersection or on a crosswalk, within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection, and within 30 feet of a stop sign or traffic-control signal, among other locations. Fire-lane and emergency-access requirements in commercial and multifamily areas are reinforced by the city's fire-related regulations in City Code Section 10.40, which support designated fire lanes that must be kept clear. On city streets and city-owned parking lots, Chapter 9 lets officers require a violating vehicle to be moved and, under Section 9.12, impound an unattended vehicle parked in violation of any parking regulation. Drivers loading or unloading should obey posted signs and time limits at each location, keep clear of marked fire lanes and hydrants, and avoid blocking driveways and crosswalks. Because the official code is the printed version maintained by the City Clerk and mirrored on Municode, businesses relying on dedicated loading areas should confirm any site-specific designations with the city.
Parking in a marked fire lane, within ten feet of a hydrant, in a posted loading or no-parking zone, or otherwise contrary to Chapter 9 or Minnesota Statutes 169.34 can be ticketed; the statewide violation is a petty misdemeanor, and unattended vehicles can be towed under Section 9.12.
