East Orange, NJ Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

Section 260-20, Curb loading zones, last amended October 26, 2015 by Ordinance No. 49-2015, gives the City Council authority to designate street segments as curb loading zones by resolution rather than by amending the chapter itself, which lets the City add or move zones as commercial needs change. The restriction only takes effect once signs are physically posted giving notice of the zone; without posted signs, the loading-zone restriction does not apply to that stretch of curb. The chapter lists each designated zone by street name, side of street and exact measured location, for example a stretch of Baldwin Street's east side running from 25 feet north of Main Street for 21 feet, and includes dozens of other streets such as Brick Church Plaza, Central Avenue, City Hall Plaza, Crawford Street, Eaton Place, Fourth Avenue, Glenwood Avenue and Harvard Street, each tied to its own measured curb segment.

A related provision, Section 192-7, separately bars loading or unloading outside designated loading zones within municipal parking lots and limits use of a lot's loading zone to the time actually needed to load or unload freight for commercial purposes. Enforcement of the parking chapter falls to the East Orange Police Department, and Section 192-9 lets the Chief of Police have an illegally parked vehicle removed at the owner's expense.
