Jersey City, NJ Parking Rules: Loading Zones (2026)

City Code §332-28, "Bus stops, taxi stands and loading zones," states that, in accordance with N.J.S.A. 39:4-197(3)a, b and Code §3-54C(6), "a listing of Regulations Designating Bus Stops, Taxi Stands and Loading Zones shall be incorporated in the Chapter 332 Manual. Traffic and Transportation," and that "all regulations designating bus stops, taxi stands and loading zones promulgated by the Municipal Engineer and approved by resolution of the Municipal Council shall be transmitted to the City Clerk, who shall keep them on file for public inspection." In practice this means individual loading-zone locations and hours are not spelled out street-by-street in the codified ordinance text; they're set administratively and kept on file at the Division of Engineering, Traffic and Transportation and the Office of the City Clerk.

The citywide traffic fee schedule at Code §160-1 prices the physical installation: a $150.00 promulgation fee applies "for installing and maintaining loading zone signs and curb markings" for each sign or post installation, with a reduced $75.00 fee for sign installation alone. The Municipal Engineer may recommend the Municipal Council waive that fee if the loading zone "was established for the sole purpose of improving traffic safety or capacity." Because designation happens by administrative regulation rather than a numbered street list in the code itself, drivers and businesses seeking or contesting a specific loading zone's hours need to check the posted curb signage or request the Traffic Manual listing directly from the Division of Engineering, Traffic and Transportation.
