Margate's freight curb loading zone rule sits in section 33-69.52(1), part of the supplemental traffic regulations the city enacted under Chapter 316, Florida Statutes. It has two parts. The first paragraph restricts stopping, standing or parking in a freight curb loading zone to a length of time expeditious for loading and delivery during the hours the zone's rules are in effect, and it caps any stop for loading or unloading of materials at thirty (30) minutes unless otherwise posted. The second paragraph lets a driver stop temporarily at a marked freight curb loading zone to load or unload passengers, but only while actually engaged in doing so and only when the stop does not interfere with a materials vehicle that is waiting to enter, or about to enter, the zone.

The code text does not list the zones or their hours. The hours come from the posted signs, and the words "unless otherwise posted" let a sign set a different time limit than the thirty-minute default.

Enforcement runs through the parking provisions. Section 33-70 declares it unlawful to park in violation of any ordinance regulating parking, on public or private property, and holds the vehicle owner responsible for the ticket. Section 33-71 has the police or the building and code services departments issue numbered citations, and section 33-72 adds a $5 technology fee to each one. The fine schedule in section 1-8(b)(3) has no separate loading-zone line. Its "All other parking" row runs $35, $75 and $150, then $150 to $500 for a fourth offense. A vehicle left so that it is a definite hazard or obstruction to traffic can be impounded under section 33-69.52(3), and the owner pays the towing and storage charges.
