Coconut Creek, FL Parking Rules: Overnight Parking (2026)

Section 19-35 of the Coconut Creek Code of Ordinances, titled All-night parking, applies only to a street that is marked prohibiting all-night parking. On such a street, no person may park a vehicle for a period of time longer than thirty minutes between the hours of 2:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. of every day. The rule applies seven days a week with no holiday carve-out. Physicians and other persons on emergency calls are the only people the section excepts. The trigger is the posted marking, so a street without an all-night parking prohibition sign is not covered by this section.

The overnight window is separate from the city's twenty-four-hour abandonment rule. Under § 19-32(a)(4), the public safety department is authorized to remove a vehicle left unattended upon a street continuously for more than twenty-four hours, which may be presumed abandoned. It can also remove a vehicle parked in an area designated no parking by signs stating Tow Away Zone under § 19-32(a)(7). Once a vehicle is impounded, no release occurs until charges for impoundment and storage are paid, and the officer must give the owner written notice of the removal, the reasons and the place the vehicle was taken.

Citations follow § 19-31. A parking enforcement specialist employed by the city, or an officer of the Coconut Creek Police Department, records the registration number and affixes a city parking citation to the vehicle. The driver has ten working days to answer at the place named on the citation by the Clerk of the Court for Broward County, which holds the city's delegated collection and enforcement authority. A person who wants to contest the citation makes a written request for an administrative hearing to the Clerk within ten working days of issuance. The hearing is set within sixty calendar days, with at least seven working days of notice. Section 19-7 adds an evidentiary presumption tied to the registered owner when the § 19-31 procedure has been followed.
