Coconut Creek, FL Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Section 19-33 of the Coconut Creek Code of Ordinances, in Article II of Chapter 19, bars any person from stopping, standing or parking a vehicle in 25 listed places, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or when complying with the directions of a public safety officer or traffic-control device. The distance rules are specific: within 15 feet of a fire hydrant, within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection, within 30 feet of a flashing beacon, stop sign or traffic-control signal at the side of a roadway, within 50 feet of the nearest railroad or bridge, and within 20 feet of a fire station driveway entrance. Across the street from a fire station entrance the distance is 75 feet when a sign is properly posted.

The flat prohibitions cover a sidewalk, the space in front of a public or private driveway, an intersection, a crosswalk, a bridge or elevated structure, any alley in a business district (loading and unloading of materials excepted), any narrow street, any one-way street, bus and taxicab stands, and any place where official signs or no-parking markings prohibit parking. Item (12) bars parking on the roadway side of a vehicle already stopped at the curb, which is double parking. The list has no separate wrong-way rule. Item (24) prohibits parking in a swale area in any zoning district other than residential, while § 19-37 sets the residential swale rules. Item (25) reserves signed alternative fuel vehicle spaces.

Section 19-31 governs enforcement. A parking enforcement specialist employed by the city or a police officer affixes a city parking citation to the vehicle. The driver has ten working days to answer at the place named on the citation by the Clerk of the Court for Broward County, to which the city has delegated collection. A written request for an administrative hearing must reach the Clerk within ten working days of issuance, the hearing is set within sixty calendar days, and the cited person gets at least seven working days' notice. Section 19-32 also lets the public safety department tow a vehicle parked illegally so as to be a hazard or obstruction, left unattended for more than twenty-four hours, or parked in an area signed Tow Away Zone. Storage charges must be paid before release.
