Kane County sets no countywide overnight on-street parking ban; that is a municipal matter under the Illinois Vehicle Code. In Forest Preserve District of Kane County preserves, overnight parking is prohibited: it is a violation to park a vehicle overnight or leave it unattended after posted hours (sunrise to sunset).
There is no blanket county overnight-parking ordinance for public streets in Kane County; cities and villages decide overnight curb rules. The clearest county-level overnight prohibition is in the Forest Preserve District of Kane County General Use Regulation Ordinance. Preserves are open sunrise to sunset, and Chapter 4, Section 6 makes it unlawful to 'Park a vehicle overnight or leave a vehicle unattended after authorized hours of use for the preserve or District property at which the vehicle is located.' Overnight sleeping in a vehicle requires a camping permit at designated campgrounds only.
Forest Preserve violations of the adopted Illinois Vehicle Code carry a fine of not less than $75; other ordinance violations are enforced under Chapter 5 of the District ordinance.
