Sec. 28-82 of the general code, titled 'Maximum parking time on streets,' flatly caps continuous street parking at seventy-two hours: any vehicle left longer is subject to impoundment. This is the county's general overnight and long-term parking cap and applies countywide, not just downtown. A related but separate rule in Sec. 28-84(d) treats certain oversized vehicles differently: buses, trucks and other heavy vehicles left parked in violation of the one-hour residential restriction for seventy-two hours or more are presumed abandoned and may be impounded by the sheriff, layering an abandonment presumption on top of the flat 72-hour cap for that vehicle class.

Neither section carves out an exception for parking on private driveways or off-street areas; both address vehicles left standing on public streets. The sheriff's office, which handles parking enforcement countywide under this chapter, is the enforcing agency, and towed or impounded vehicles are held at the violator's expense until released. This provision sits in Chapter 28, Article III, Division 1 of the general code alongside the county's other on-street parking limits, and is unrelated to any land-use setback or lot-coverage standard in the county's development resolution.
