Santa Ana prohibits overnight parking of recreational vehicles on city streets under SAMC. Standard passenger vehicles may park on most residential streets overnight but are subject to 72-hour parking limits and street sweeping regulations.
Under SAMC and the California Vehicle Code, no vehicle may remain parked on a public street for more than 72 consecutive hours. RVs and oversized vehicles are subject to additional overnight parking restrictions and require a temporary RV parking permit for any overnight street parking. The city's RV Permit Parking Program allows RVs to park temporarily for loading and unloading purposes β permits are issued for up to 3 consecutive days with a maximum of 72 permits per calendar year per address at a fee of $5 per permit. Requests must be submitted at least 7 business days in advance. Street sweeping schedules require vehicles to be moved on posted sweep days to avoid citations.
Vehicles parked over 72 hours or in violation of RV overnight restrictions are subject to citation and towing. Street sweeping violations carry fines per the city's fine schedule.
