Greenwich, CT Parking Rules: Preferential Parking Districts (2026)

Sec. 14-11 of the Code of Ordinances creates Greenwich's residential permit parking program: on the streets and street segments the Town designates in Schedule X, no vehicle may park during the posted days and hours unless it displays the correct residential permit in the required spot. Sec. 14-10.1 governs how those permits work townwide, covering Schedule X along with the other permit schedules. Permits run for a one-year term at the annual cost set in Schedule XA, and Sec. 14-10.1(d) prorates a permit bought after the season's initial sales window to the first of the purchase month, except for the separate Byram Parking Permit.

Losing a permit costs the full annual fee again plus a ten-dollar administrative charge to replace it, but a stolen permit's replacement drops to just the ten-dollar administrative fee once the holder files a police report. Sec. 14-10.1(e) also covers permits the Town mails but that never arrive: reporting non-delivery within thirty days of issuance costs only the ten-dollar fee, while reporting it later means paying the full annual fee again on top of that ten dollars. Parking on a permit street without displaying one draws a fifty-five dollar fine under the Sec.

14-34(b) schedule, listed as 'No permit,' with 'Improper permit' carrying the same fifty-five dollar fine. The Board of Selectmen, acting as the Traffic Authority, administers the underlying parking regulations these permit streets sit within.
