Greenwich, CT Parking Rules: Street Parking Limits (2026)

Chapter 14, Article 2 of the Code of Ordinances sets Greenwich's street parking rules. Sec. 14-4 bars parking anywhere the Town has posted a no-parking street in Schedule I, and subsection (a) adds a townwide rule that applies without any sign: no vehicle may park on any street within five feet of a private driveway or alleyway unless the driveway's owner gives permission. Sec. 14-16 folds Connecticut's general parallel-parking law into every other street the chapter covers, so a car stopped facing the wrong direction violates that adopted state rule locally.

The penalties for every parking offense in the chapter, including a blocked driveway and parking the wrong way, sit in one table at Sec. 14-34(b): a blocked driveway costs thirty dollars, and parking the wrong way on a street also costs thirty dollars, alongside separate line items such as fifty-five dollars for double parking or parking within ten feet of a fire hydrant. Sec. 14-34(a) lets a parking or police officer serve the ticket on the operator personally or by leaving it on the vehicle, giving fifteen days to pay.

A driver may contest the ticket through an online appeal request within that same fifteen days under Sec. 14-34(c), which routes the case to a Parking Appeal Hearing Officer for a telephonic hearing scheduled within sixty days. Sec. 14-34(d) doubles an unpaid fine after fifteen days and triples it after thirty, and Sec. 14-35 presumes the registered owner was the driver who committed the violation, shifting the burden to that owner to prove otherwise.
